SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING 8th July 2021
We are delighted and honoured to be able to report that Sir John Eliot Gardiner CBE Hon FBA has kindly agreed to be Patron of our fund-raising project. Sir John Eliot, as a world-renowned musician and conductor who was born and lives in Fontmell Magna, appreciates the importance to the community of its village shop, and we are very grateful for his support.
The initial response to the work of Pen Hadow, our Fund-raising Coordinator, has been most encouraging, and we have already secured pledges for over £90,000 from members and other residents.
The agenda for our meeting, which begins at 7.00pm, is as follows:
- Chairman’s opening remarks;
- A short presentation by the Management Committee, which will outline the work undertaken to assess the project to purchase the freehold of the Village Shop, and the action needed to bring the project to fruition;
- Members’ Questions;
- A resolution, to be voted on by members, that FMCLT should proceed with negotiations with the freeholder
- A resolution, to be voted on by members, that FMCLT Directors should be authorised to contract with the freeholder, with banks and other financial institutions, and with charities and other providers of financial support for the project;
- Any other business.
We hope you will be able to attend the meeting and we look forward to seeing you there.
Kind Regards
Dick Stainer
Chairman
